Former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has called on party executives to uphold their responsibility as custodians of the party by promoting unity and active participation in its affairs.
Speaking during an interface with party stakeholders on Thursday in Makurdi, Suswam stressed that it was imperative for every committed party member to be part of such engagements, noting that the party’s strength lies in collective support rather than internal rivalry.
He said members joined the party not to undermine one another or pursue personal interests, but to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Benue State Governor in consolidating on their achievements.
He commended the ongoing economic reforms by the President, describing them as bold and necessary steps that previous administrations could not undertake.
According to him, the reforms, though challenging, are aimed at building a sustainable economy for future generations.
Suswam urged Benue people to continue supporting the Governor, stating that his administration had recorded significant progress within three years.
He advised the Governor to remain focused on development and not be distracted by opposition.
Reflecting on his time in office, the former governor noted that payment of salaries and pensions was a major challenge, but expressed optimism that the removal of fuel subsidy has improved revenue for states, enabling them to meet obligations and embark on development projects.
He further emphasised that sustained support for the current administration at both state and federal levels would position Benue for greater opportunities in the future.
