The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has used the 2026 Democracy Day celebration to commend Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Tinubu for what it described as impactful leadership and the delivery of democratic dividends to Nigerians.

In a statement signed by the party’s State Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale, on Friday, the APC said both leaders had demonstrated commitment to good governance, institutional strengthening and policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.

The party particularly praised Governor Alia for infrastructural development, reforms in the public service, investments in agriculture, healthcare and education, as well as programmes targeted at youth empowerment and rural development across the state.

According to the APC, the governor’s policies have restored public confidence in government and brought renewed hope to residents through transparent and accountable leadership.

The party also applauded President Tinubu’s administration for implementing economic reforms and pursuing initiatives designed to strengthen democratic institutions, improve national security and attract investments into the country.

While marking Democracy Day, the APC paid tribute to pro-democracy activists and other Nigerians whose sacrifices contributed to the country’s return to democratic rule, describing June 12 as a reminder of the nation’s democratic journey.

The ruling party further acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society groups, security agencies, the media and other stakeholders toward sustaining democracy and promoting peaceful coexistence.

It urged Nigerians to remain united and committed to the ideals of democracy, while reaffirming its support for the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Alia in their efforts to advance development and good governance.
