A grassroots politician, and former Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) 1 FCT; Hon. Patrick Ogunyemi is to lead the campaign team of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Solidarity Front (BATSOF) in FCT.

Hon. Ogunyemi was inaugurated as Director General of the BATSOF alongside with other executives during an event to kick off the campaign for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja, on Tuesday.

BATSOF is a foremost progressive political support group founded in 2003 with the sole mandate of working for the re-election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as then Governor of Lagos State, while seeking for re-election in second term.

The political support group was among the pioneer grassroots organisations that mobilised, campaigned and delivered victory for Asiwaju during his return bid as Governor of Lagos State in 2003, at a time when most South West states fell to the opposition.

The event witnessed the decoration of Amb. Alhaji Aminu A. Majidadi as its grand patron.

Amb. Majidadi is the National Coordinator for Nationwide APC Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu/Shettima 2027.

In his acceptance speech, Amb. Majidadi said, he decided to accept the responsibility because of his desire to continuing serve the good people of Nigeria. He urged the team to work hard for the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 general elections.

Amb. Majidadi said, “I was a bit reluctant and it took me time to study the activities of BATSOF. After carefully examined it, I was convinced that there was a need for me to be a part of it, and I accepted. I’m not a type that rushed to join an association or accepting a leadership role without thoroughly look into it, which I also did in the case of BATSOF, just as the convener had earlier said.

“I urge all of us to work hard in our various assigned duties in order to return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term. Thank you for the honour, and God bless you.”

Speaking at the event, the Convener of BATSOF, Hon. Bola Asiru Balogun, appealed to the campaign team not to resort to insult or noise making on social media, but to dwell their energy on strategic move and issue-based campaign, by letting electorates to know what the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has achieved a lot less than four years in office; and why he deserves second term.

“Don’t engage in unnecessary argument on the social media; channel your energy by letting the electorates to know those things that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for the country. They are all there for people to see. Don’t engage in unnecessary noise making like the opposition. Of course, that is their job. Let them continue their noise while we continue working.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done very well. The evidences are all there for people to see. Facts and figures don’t lie. Don’t involve in unnecessary arguments like our competitors, use facts and figures to drive home your point. BATSOF did it in 2003 for the re-election of Mr President who was then seeking re-election into office for second term as the Governor of Lagos State. We did it in 2023 when he was not yet the president, and by God’s grace, we will do it again in 2027,” Hon. Balogun said.

Director General of BATSOF, Hon. Patrick Ogunyemi, while addressing the newly inaugurated executives, urged them to be up to their responsibilities, urging them to take their assignment serious as he wouldn’t tolerate any act that could jeopardise the vision and mission of BATSOF, warning that he would not hesitate to replace anybody that performs below expectation.

He said: “You need to take your assignment very serious. I don’t believe and associate with failure. Many are struggling to be part of this team but were not privileged. For you to be a member of this campaign team, you should take it as a privilege and deliver any assignment given to you.

“I want to also say this that if anyone of you is not up to his/her responsibility, I wouldn’t hesitate to replace him/her,” Hon. Ogunyemi who is also a member of Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi declared.
