All glory, honour and praise belong to the Almighty God – the Author and Finisher of our faith, the Lord who puts books in the hearts of men and then gives them the grace to write them. To Him alone be all the glory for what we celebrate today.
Distinguished Chairman of the Occasion, My Lords – Spiritual and Temporal, Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members present, Permanent Secs, Directors, Heads of Depts, Divisions and Units, Members of the Clergy, Worthy kJW, KCW, KSM, KSJI, OOW, MOW, Elders, Chiefs, Distinguished Guests, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, esteemed Muslim Colleagues and Friends, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen, today is a day I receive with profound gratitude, deep humility and overwhelming sense of God’s faithfulness. When God first stirred in my heart the vision of this book, I did not fully comprehend the journey He was calling me into. Today, standing before this distinguished gathering, I can say with the Psalmist: “This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
I want to begin this address with what is, above all else, a sincere and heartfelt thankyou — to each and every one of you who has honoured us with your presence today. You did not have to come. You had other engagements, other responsibilities, other places you could have been. But you chose to be here, and that choice is a gift I do not take lightly. Your presence is, in itself, an endorsement – a statement that you believe in the importance of what this book addresses, and that you believe in me. For that, I am deeply grateful.
About the Book: “Life-Partners’ Intimacy Enrichment Manual”
Many of you may wonder, why would a Minister of the Gospel write a book about intimacy? What moves a Clergyman to step into what some consider sensitive, even controversial territory?
The answer is simple: because God Himself invented intimacy. Because the marriage covenant is not a human institution but a divine one. And because the crisis of broken, unfulfilling, and hollow marriages is one of the most devastating and most under-addressed public health and social crises of our time.
Every day, families collapse not because of poverty or external enemies, but because Life-Partners, Spouses, Husbands and Wives have drifted into emotional distance, relational superficiality and intimate disconnection. Children grow up in homes where love has become a formality. Spouses co-exist but do not truly commune. Marriages that began with joy become arrangements endured out of obligation even though the certificate is intact. And because, these things happen behind closed doors, in the private spaces of the home, they are rarely spoken about and certainly not from the pulpit, and rarely in professional settings.
This book is my response to that silence. “Life-Partners’ Intimacy Enrichment Manual” is a practical, comprehensive, and compassionate guide designed to help married couples, newly wedded couples and intending couples understand, develop, and sustain the kind of deep, enriching and God-honouring intimacy that makes a marriage truly flourish. It addresses intimacy in its fullest dimensions as it covers emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social and physical, because true intimacy between Life-Partners is not one-dimensional. It is a whole-life experience and it requires intentional cultivation.
The book draws on the wisdom of Holy Books: The Holy Bible and the Holy Quran, the insights of pastoral experience, and the findings of contemporary research to provide couples with tools that are both spiritually grounded and practically applicable. It is written not as an academic treatise, but as a manual i.e. a working document that couples can engage with together, learn from and apply to the daily reality of their lives.
I believe this book will be a blessing in your homes. I believe it will start conversations that needed to happen years ago. I believe it will open doors of understanding between spouses who have loved each other but struggled to connect. And I believe that as families are strengthened, communities will be strengthened because the family remains, and will always remain, the basic unit of every healthy society.
The Journey to This Day
Writing this book was not without its challenges. There were moments of doubt, seasons of discouragement, times when the demands of ministry, secular life, and family responsibilities made the writing feel impossible. But God was faithful. He provided the time, the strength, the inspiration, and the clarity to bring this work to completion.
I am grateful to my dear wife, my life-partner and best friend, whose patience, support, and prayer sustained me through the writing process. She is a living proof that the principles in this book are not merely theoretical but are tested in real life, in a real marriage, with real challenges and real rewards. She is my greatest human blessing, and this book is, in many ways, a tribute to what God has built between us.
I am grateful to my family — my children, my siblings, my extended family — for their encouragement and their belief in this work. I am grateful to the Men’s Fellowship, MCN, Diocese of Kubwa, the entire Diocese of Kubwa under the episcopal leadership of my beloved Bishop, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Frederick Agada Gabriel Onoja.
I am grateful to the members and leadership of Scripture Union Nigeria, Abuja Area and Kubwa Zone, members and leadership of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI) Bwari Zone, the happiest people on earth and also the Chairman and members, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kuchiko Chapter — a great church community that has shaped, sharpened, and sustained my ministry over the years.
Let me also express my heartfelt appreciation to the President General and Members Nzuko Ndigbo South East BAC, the Chairman and Members, Ngbo and Ezzamgbo Welfare Association (NEWA), Abuja, the Chairperson and members, Ngbo and Ezzamgbo Welfare Association, Women Wing, the Chairman and Members, Mgbolizha Welfare Association, Bwari, the Chairman and Members, Ohaukwu Clergy Forum, Abuja and the Chairman and Members, Tent-Making Ministers’ Fellowship, MCN, Diocese of Kubwa for your show of love.
I am also grateful to my superiors, colleagues and friends in the health, environment and education sector — the Director and Staff, Public Health Department, Health Services and Environment Secretariat, the Registrar/CEO and Staff EHCON, Abuja, the President and Members EHOAN, FCT Chapter, the Chairman, Executives and Members, Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, FCT Chapter, Friends and Colleagues from FCT SEB and UBEB, the CEO, Chairperson and members of the Board of Directors, AAWDI Foundation, Abuja, the Provost and Academic Staff, Goinze International College of Medical Science and Health Technology, Bwari, the representatives of various Bookshops and Book Business and Newspaper Associations, Trade Unions and Associations in Abuja, all the various bodies represented here today, who have shown that care for human well-being transcends the boundaries of clinical settings and reaches into the very heart of the home.
And I am grateful to everyone who contributed to making today’s event a reality, starting from the Planning Committee, the MC, the Book Reviewer, the management of the Exploit Journal Publishers Ltd, the members of the press and all who gave of their time, resources, and energy to bring this occasion together. You are co-labourers in this work, and your reward will not be forgotten.
A Word to My Distinguished Guests
To all my Distinguished Guests, I want to say something directly to you. Your presence here today is not merely a social courtesy. It is a statement. It says that you recognize that the health of a community is inseparable from the health of its families. It says that you understand that no amount of policy reform, public health intervention, or social development programme can substitute for what happens or fails to happen at the dinner table, in the bedroom, and in the quiet conversations between a husband and a wife.
You are all leaders and leaders set the tone for every reform. I therefore want to humbly encourage you: as you launch this book today, take it home. Read it. Share it with your spouse. Recommend it to those under your care and leadership. Recommend it to both married, newly wedded and intending couples. Let today be the beginning of a conversation in your home and other spaces about the kind of families and communities we want to build for the next generation.
Because ultimately, the health of our nation is not determined in the chambers of government or in the corridors of our health facilities alone, it is determined in the homes of our people. And if our homes are strong, Nigeria will be strong.
In conclusion, I want to say, once more, from the very depth of my heart – thank you. Thank you for coming. Thank you for believing in this work. Thank you for the love and support that your presence today represents.
To God be the glory for this book. To God be the glory for this day. And to God be the glory for each of your lives, which continue to make a difference in the world around you.
May this occasion mark the beginning of a great harvest of enriched marriages, strengthened families and communities transformed by the power of love, purpose and God’s unfailing grace.
Thank you and God bless you all.
