Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, has declared that there is no alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the zone, urging supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Moro made the declaration on Monday in Otukpo during the inauguration of his campaign council and management team for his re-election bid.
He cautioned members of the campaign team against complacency, insisting that despite the PDP’s political strength in Benue South, victory could only be secured through sustained engagement with voters across the district.
“Nobody should tell you to be tired of me or PDP as there’s no alternative to us for now,” he said.
The senator, who thanked party stakeholders and supporters for honouring his invitation, explained that the exclusion of some individuals from the campaign council was not deliberate, noting that it was impossible to accommodate everyone in the list.
He, however, declared all his supporters, both within and outside the inaugurated council, members of the campaign council and management team.
Moro described the task before the team as both simple and challenging, arguing that while the PDP’s political dominance in Zone C could make grassroots mobilisation easier, the competitive nature of politics required members to work hard for victory.
“We must not be complacent. We must not relax and believe that we have already won. We must go out there to talk to our people and convince them to vote for us,” he said.
He urged members to highlight his legislative achievements and development projects across the senatorial district to counter critics and convince voters to support his re-election.
The senator also assured the campaign council of his commitment to providing the necessary support for the successful prosecution of the campaign.
In his remarks, the Benue State PDP Chairman, Chief Ezekiel Adaji, commended Moro for his performance in the Senate and assured him of the party’s full support towards securing victory in 2027.
Representatives of the four federal constituencies in Benue South, alongside leaders of women and other political groups, also pledged their support for Moro and other PDP candidates in the state.
The PDP State Women Leader, Hon. Mrs Alice Albert, who spoke on behalf of women, said Moro had performed beyond expectations and assured him of massive support from women to return him to the Senate.
Similarly, the Director-General of the Campaign Management Team, George Alli, expressed confidence in the senator’s re-election prospects, describing him as a credible political candidate whose people-oriented legislative activities had endeared him to constituents.
Alli, a former Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, said the campaign management team would embark on door-to-door mobilisation to take Moro’s achievements to the electorate.
He, however, warned members against taking victory for granted, stressing the need for sustained grassroots engagement.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Campaign Council, Chief Barr. John Ochoga, expressed appreciation to Moro for finding members worthy of the appointments, assuring that the council would work diligently to secure victory.
Ochoga described the PDP as an organised political party and charged members to return to their respective communities to mobilise support for the party and its candidates
The high point of the ceremony was the inauguration of the campaign council, chaired by Ochoga, with Alli as Director-General of the Campaign Management Team.
