Experts have advocated for responsible exploration and exploitation of geo-resources including oil & gas, ground water, solid minerals and environmental sustainability.
The 3rd edition of international annual conference of Society of Geophysicists and Computational Geoscientists brought together experts from different backgrounds such as physics, geo-physics, geology, statistics, mathematics, computer science, geo-informatics, special analyst and a couple of other specializations.
The conference which started on 20th September came to an end on 24th September, 2026. The conference and exhibition programme was to share knowledge, to advocate for responsible exploration and exploitation of geo-resources including oil & gas, ground water, solid minerals, environmental sustainability, atmospheric concern and so on.
According to the President of Society of Geophysicists and Computational Geoscientists (SGCG), Prof. Aaron Enechojo Auduson, the idea behind the annual conference was to bring experts in those fields to look at how to solve exploration and other related problems.
He said, “The idea behind the gathering is to bring the experts or professionals in the field to look at how to solve exploration problem. For instance, if they are mining in a community and that has made the environment to be degraded, we will identify the problem and recommend solutions for the government to solve the problem.”
The university don, encouraged undergraduate students in those fields to join the association in order to learn the practical aspect of the job, adding that after their graduation, it becomes easier for them to navigate because they have provided a platform for them through the conference to meet experts and get connected with them.
Prof. Auduson added that, “We have three categories of membership registration – the students, the young professionals (those that started practicing within three years) and experienced professionals.

Speakers at the conference are; AVM (Dr.) Kabiru Aliyu (retd); Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Aminu, among others. Chief (Dr.) Amos Gizo Yaduksu was the chairman of the conference; while Hon. Uba Saidu Malami; President, Geological Society of Nigeria (GSN) was co-chairman.
