The agro-processing subsidiary of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited, Benfruits, has set to commence full production in order to boost agro-industrial activities and expand market opportunities for farmers across Benue State.
Group Managing Director of the company, Raymond Asemakaha, disclosed this on Tuesday in Makurdi while urging farmers and residents to prepare for increased demand for key produce such as oranges, mangoes and tomatoes as operations begin.
He expressed confidence in the readiness of the facility to transition into full-scale production.
Asemakaha attributed the development to the support of Governor Hyacinth Alia, noting that the administration’s backing has accelerated progress on the project.
He said the initiative aligns with broader efforts to reposition the state’s economy through strategic investments in agriculture and processing.
According to him, the takeoff of full production at Benfruits is projected to create jobs, strengthen local supply chains and provide a steady market for farmers, reinforcing Benue’s status as a major agricultural hub.
The BIPC boss added that the facility is designed to process locally sourced fruits into finished products, adding value to raw produce and reducing post-harvest losses.
