ACF To Tinubu, INEC: Don’t Put 2027 Polls In Jeopardy, Retrace Your Steps

The apex northern socio-cultural organisation, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has called on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to retrace their steps to avoid jeopardising the 2027 elections.

ACF warned that the nation already faced serious problems of insecurity and economic hardship and should avoid another political crisis that could endanger national security.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP over the state of the nation, ACF National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, also kicked against the INEC voter revalidation exercise.

When asked to comment on the INEC removal of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership led by David Mark and Voter revalidation, ACF said those who were beneficiaries of democracy in Nigeria were trying to destroy it.
According to ACF, “The only thing I can tell you is that, as I said, it’s very, very unfortunate because it looks like those who are beneficiaries of democracy are now trying to destroy democracy in Nigeria. The path INEC is now taking is not just delisting ADC leadership. The question of people having to revalidate their permanent voter’s card is also another landmine. We hope it is not a landmine, but it looks like a landmine”

ACF added, “It looks like every step taken by INEC or the political authorities is putting the 2027 election into jeopardy. It is not too late, and we hope we call on the government, we call on INEC, we call on all those concerned to retrace their steps and stand by the principles and the tenets of democracy.

“Otherwise, all these things really portend a crisis, and it is not good for the country. We have enough. We have enough problems with insecurity. We have enough problems with economic hardships. We don’t want to add another political crisis that could seriously endanger national security. So we call on all to please retrace their steps,” the forum warned.
