The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled the party’s National Convention for March 28 and 29, 2026, to be held in Abuja.
The decision was taken on Monday during the PDP’s 105th NEC meeting in Abuja.
In a statement jointly signed by Abdulrahman Muhammed, National Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, and Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Committee, the NEC said the resolutions followed extensive deliberations on the state of the party, the prevailing political environment, recent judicial developments, and preparations for forthcoming internal processes.
According to the statement, the NEC unanimously reconfirmed, ratified, and reaffirmed all resolutions reached at the Emergency 104th NEC meeting held on December 7, 2025, noting that all actions taken pursuant to those resolutions remain binding, lawful, and in full force.
The NEC emphasized its commitment to the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, describing them as central to democratic and constitutional governance.
In this regard, it welcomed the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, which upheld the legality of the party’s leadership and administrative arrangements and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the duly constituted National Caretaker Committee of the PDP.
The committee also approved March 28 and 29, 2026, as the dates for the National Convention, at which members of the National Working Committee and other statutory organs of the party will be elected.
