Governor Hyacinth Alia has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparent governance and inclusive leadership as more opposition figures defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State.
Alia at the Expanded APC Caucus Meeting held over the weekend in Makurdi welcomed new members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Labour Party (LP), describing their defection as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance.
The governor said the wave of support reflects the growing confidence of the people in the APC-led government, which, according to him, is delivering on its promises of security, infrastructural renewal, and agricultural development.
“This overwhelming support from key stakeholders across political divides shows that we are making measurable progress in governance and people’s welfare,” Alia said.
He noted the state government’s achievements in restoring peace through collaborative security efforts, reducing attacks in local communities, and empowering farmers with resources to boost food production.
Alia also warned contractors who defrauded the state under the guise of fertilizer supply that they would face the full weight of the law, insisting that accountability remains a cornerstone of his administration.
The governor assured party members of his administration’s resolve to sustain prompt salary payments and continue policies that prioritise the welfare of citizens.
“As we fight for the masses, we remain resolute in our pursuit of peace, stability, and development in Benue State,” he declared.
Alia commended the APC leadership in the state, led by Chief Benjamin Omale, for their unity and dedication, and pledged to continue supporting women-focused initiatives, noting that empowering women strengthens communities.
He urged party faithful to remain focused and united, saying, “Together, we can make the APC a beacon of hope and progress for the people of Benue State.”
