The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has distributed the third batch of motorcycles to 12 beneficiaries under its hire-purchase scheme aimed at empowering youths across the state.

Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, said the initiative aligns with Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Unicom Reform, which prioritises inclusive governance and economic empowerment.

He noted that commercial motorcycle operations have already created over 75,000 jobs for youths in Benue and announced plans to extend the scheme to Otukpo and other parts of the state.

“This distribution is not just about providing dividends to shareholders but about extending inclusive governance to our people. This is the first time such an initiative is happening since the company was established in 1979,” Asemakaha said.

Head of Business Development and Strategy, Theresa Abeda, described the scheme as a deliberate effort to take youths off the streets and provide sustainable livelihoods.

She urged beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously.

The Company Secretary, Josephat Ioryoosu, applauded the management for sustaining the initiative and reminded beneficiaries to adhere strictly to the terms of the hire-purchase agreement.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries including Michael Adagba from Buruku, Udu Bokyaa from Ushongo, and Samuel Ode from Oju Local Government Area thanked BIPC for the motorcycles and pledged to use them responsibly in line with the scheme’s conditions.
