Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has called on the people of Benue State to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the implementation of his Renewed Hope agenda.
Akume made the call on Friday at Wanune, Tarka Local Government Area, when he handed over fully renovated structures and a newly equipped ICT laboratory at LGEA Primary School, Wanune—his alma mater.
The project was facilitated through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
The SGF, visibly emotional, described the gesture as a personal contribution to the growth of his community and education in the state.
He urged his kinsmen to rally behind President Tinubu, whom he said is committed to life-changing infrastructure projects across the country, including the Makurdi–Katsina Ala Road reconstruction, Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile Road, Lagos–Calabar Super Highway, Badagry–Sokoto Highway, and the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway.
Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajiya Aisha Garba, who performed the formal handover, commended Akume for facilitating the project.
The Education Secretary of Tarka LGA, Mr. Aondoakaa Kwaghbo, also thanked the SGF for the donation, stressing that the ICT facility would boost computer literacy among pupils.
Traditional rulers led by the Ter Mbakor, HRH Gandeoron Gregory, praised Akume for his consistent contributions to the community and pledged their total support to President Tinubu.
Akume further announced a scholarship scheme for pupils of the school and urged residents to take advantage of the newly established Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, which now offers 21 courses.
