The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has embarked on construction of more than 390 kilometres of rural and urban roads across the state, alongside reviving moribund industries.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, disclosed on Wednesday that the Alia’s administration had completed 25 of those road projects within Makurdi metropolis and flagged off additional township roads, with several nearing completion.
Speaking after a facility tour of ongoing projects, the CPS noted that the governor’s prudent management of resources had enabled simultaneous investments in education, water supply, and industrial revival, including the near-complete Benue Food Basket Brewery, as well as the Benfruit and Benval Juice factories.
“No local government has been left out in road development. The governor has blocked revenue leakages, improved IGR, and channelled funds into infrastructure that will directly impact the people,” Kula told journalists in Makurdi.
The projects inspected included the underpass at High Level, the dualisation of Ishaya Bakut Road, and installations at the Food Basket Brewery, where the plant manager confirmed production could begin within three months with a capacity of up to 2,500 cases of beer per day.
