Barely 24 hours after stepping down, former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, was on Tuesday suspended for three months over alleged moves to impeach Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The suspension was announced during plenary presided over by the new Speaker, Alfred Emberga.

The motion was moved by Emmanuel Shimawua (Vandeikya Kyan) and seconded by Abu Umoru James (Apa), both lawmakers who were themselves reinstated on Sunday after earlier suspension.

In the same sitting, the Assembly re-screened and confirmed two commissioner-nominees previously rejected under Dajoh’s leadership – Prof. Timothy Yangien Ornguga and James Dwen.

The lawmakers also recalled State Universal Basic Education Board Chairman, Grace Adagba; Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, Maxwell Ogiri; and Executive Secretary of the State Lottery and Sporting Board, Michael Upper, whose one-month suspensions had been approved by Governor Alia.
