The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has expressed dismay over the alleged anti-party activities of the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Sunday Oche.

Oche, who was elected under the APC platform, has been allegedly linked with both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC).

Party insiders described Oche actions as the “most brazen case of anti-party activity” by a sitting council chairman.

The embattled chairman had previously attended PDP functions in Ado where he reportedly criticised Governor Hyacinth Alia for allegedly starving local governments of funds and pledged loyalty to Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro.

He was also reported to have signaled interest in contesting the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo House of Representatives seat in 2027 on the PDP ticket.

When his PDP options narrowed, Oche allegedly shifted allegiance to the ADC, funding the party’s launch in Ado and planting his loyalists across its ten council wards.

Insiders at the APC alleged that only days ago, ADC stakeholders from Ijigban ward paid him a solidarity visit in appreciation of his support.

A senior APC leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity to some journalists in Makurdi, confirmed that the party leadership was aware of Oche’s activities and will act.

“We don’t want a council chairman under our platform who is not loyal to the party and the governor. His romance with the opposition is no longer hidden. This cannot continue. As soon as our investigations are concluded, we will take a definite stand,” the source said.
