Kogi: Police, Rescue 102 Kidnap victims, Arrest 82 Criminals ,  CP Kankarofi

The Kogi state police authorities says the command has arrested   82 suspects involving in various crimes,  comprising 42 kidnappers, 22 armed robbers, 9 homicide, 4 rapists and 5 for unlawful possession of firearms in the last two months.

The state Commissioner of Police,  CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi  disclosed this  in Lokoja on Thursday  to the newsmen.

The state police commissioner noted that the joint efforts  led to the rescue of 102 kidnap victims,  and foiling other criminal plots which prevented harmful effect  in communities across the state.

“Arms recovered include 3 AK47 Rifles, 1 AK49 Rifle, 22 Dane Guns, 3 locally made pistols, 5 Rounds of live ammunition, and cartridges”, he said .

The state commissioner of police stated  that  the  fit was achieved by the unwavering support of the  government and people of the state , commending them for support .

The CP  thanked the heads of other Security Agencies in the State for the level of synergy and support that  led  to the results,  promising  to sustain the  synergy and collaboration in the year 2026 for a better results.

The state Commissioner of Police laid more emphasis on  the importance of proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and strong collaboration with communities, stressing that it remains essential tools for sustaining peace and public safety.

While CP Kankarofi  noted that security is a shared responsibility, he enjoined the  citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of law enforcement efforts.

He therefore reassured the public that the Kogi State Police Command remains “steadfast in upholding professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, while continuously strengthening strategies to address emerging security challenges and ensure a peaceful New Year for all residents.

He appealed to parents, guardians, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to continue to play active roles in promoting peaceful coexistence and discouraging all forms of criminality, especially during the New Year period.

“As we step into 2026, I  urges everyone to remain vigilant and security conscious. Report anything suspicious to the nearest police station. Together, let’s make Kogi State the safest in Nigeria! Your continued support is crucial to our success,” he said.
