The Ideal Women for Better Society (IWBS) has unveiled a project aimed at empowering more than 200 women and girls across Benue State with sustainable livelihoods, health awareness, and leadership training.
The initiative, titled “Empowering Women and Girls for Sustainable Livelihoods and Community Development in Benue State,” is scheduled to run for 12 months while it will provide skills training, start-up support, health campaigns, and advocacy for women’s inclusion in decision-making.
IWBS National Coordinator, Mrs. Anyata Ogba Juliet, in a statement on Wednesday, said that women in Benue remain hardworking but face poverty, poor access to healthcare, and exclusion from leadership.
“Through this project, IWBS is determined to equip them with skills, resources, and a stronger voice in their communities. An empowered woman transforms not only her family but her entire society,” she stated.
She noted that the programme will focus on vocational training in tailoring, catering, ICT, and agro-processing; provision of starter kits and microfinance support; reproductive and maternal health campaigns; and leadership workshops to strengthen women’s confidence in community participation.
Juliet therefore called on government, donors, and development partners to support the initiative, stressing that investing in women would secure a better future for families and communities in Benue and beyond.
