Police Arrest Three Armed Robbery Suspects in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers said to have been terrorising parts of Benue and Enugu States.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, disclosed in a statement on Friday night that the suspects were intercepted on August 31, 2025, by operatives of Orokam Division during a stop-and-search duty at Orokam Junction along Obollo Afor Road.

The suspects, identified as Mujahid Mohammed, 21, Yahaya Abdullahi, 21, and Kalipha Mohammad, 28, all residents of Mararaba, Nyanya, Abuja, were found with a bag containing 34 assorted handsets, three HP laptops, and two MP3 players.

According to the statement, the suspects confessed to belonging to a robbery gang responsible for attacking six flats in Umukasi and ten flats in St. Theresa area of Nsukka, Enugu State.

They also revealed that their ringleader, identified as Abba Mohammed, 27, escaped with their weapons during the arrest and remains at large.

DSP Edet said efforts were ongoing in collaboration with Enugu and Gombe State Police Commands to apprehend the fleeing suspect and identify rightful owners of the recovered items.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, commended the patrol team for their swift action and reiterated the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.
