The Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation, Prof. James Ayatse, has condemned in strong terms the abduction and killing of security personnel in Mberev community, Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The condemnation was contained in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and ICT, Freddie Adamgbe.
Describing the incident as “heinous” and capable of undermining ongoing peace efforts in Sankera and the state at large, the monarch called on security agencies to intensify efforts in fishing out the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
He extended condolences to the families of the slain operatives, praising the courage of security forces who recovered their remains despite the risks involved.
Ayatse, who is also Chairman of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, said the act was a deliberate attempt to frustrate collective efforts of government, stakeholders, and traditional institutions to restore peace in the troubled area.
“The Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers remains committed to supporting peace and security initiatives. Those who undermine these efforts must face the full weight of the law. We must work together to create a safe environment for development to thrive,” he stressed.
