The self-acclaimed gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi, who was arrested in the month of January for murdering and dismembering the corpse of his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Federal high court in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Ajayi was arraigned before Justice Simon Aboki on Thursday, June 26 on a single charge of culpable homicide an offense under Section 221 of the Penal Code applicable in Northern Nigeria, which carries the death penalty.

The culprit had earlier been arrested by the Nasarawa state police command in the month of January for murdering and dismembering the corpse of Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

In his ruling, Justice Aboki stated that the prosecution had presented convincing evidence, leaving no reasonable doubt of Ajayi’s guilt in the shocking crime.

He then sentenced Timilehin Ajayi to death by hanging.
