Newly sworn-in Benue State Commissioner, Prof. Yangien Ornguga, has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by Governor Hyacinth Alia and the people of Kwande, assuring that he would not betray their trust.
Speaking at reception in his honour yesterday, Ornguga said he had put behind him the controversies and petitions that trailed his nomination, stressing that he remains open to all.
“I am happy for what God has done for me and the good people of Kwande. I promise to do my best and will not disappoint the governor and my people. On the petitions before my confirmation, I deliberately refused to know those behind them. I logged out of Facebook throughout that period and only logged in after I was confirmed. I hold nothing against anyone. I am commissioner for all,” he said.
He appealed to his supporters not to be bitter over the petitions, stressing that his doors remain open to everyone.
“All my supporters should not be angry with anyone. Don’t hesitate to come to me if you need my help. I have put everything behind me,” Ornguga added.
The commissioner also used the occasion to urge citizens to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
“Please do everything you can to get your voter card so that you will be eligible to vote in 2027,” he said.
Ornguga, who noted that many doubted his political ability, assured that his capacity would become evident in the course of his service.
