The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of running what it described as a government of “perpetual fights, vendettas, and instability” less than two years into office.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor, the PDP alleged that the governor has consistently chosen confrontation over collaboration, citing his strained relationship with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and other political leaders he once called “Ubokoti Stakeholders.”

The party further accused the governor of attempting to hijack the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state by seeking to remove Austin Agada as chairman, describing the move as “illegal and undemocratic.”

Also, the PDP faulted Alia’s alleged attempt to sack the Chief Judge of Benue State, his dismissal of the Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff, as well as the removal of commissioners and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

“These actions reveal a pattern of hostility against allies, institutions, and stakeholders, plunging Benue into needless turmoil,” the statement read.

According to the PDP, the Alia administration has failed to address pressing challenges of insecurity, economic hardship, transparency, and accountability, instead choosing to “invest time and resources in petty feuds.”

The party warned that unless the governor changes course, he risks being remembered as a leader who “squandered goodwill and betrayed the people.”
