The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, has commended the leadership style of the newly elected Speaker, Alfred Emberga, describing him as gender-friendly, transparent, and principled.
Ogenyi, in an interview with journalists in Makurdi, said her working relationship with Emberga had been cordial since he assumed office, noting that the Speaker consults her regularly on decisions of the assembly.
“My relationship with the new Speaker is very good. So far, we have had a smooth working relationship. He always consults me before carrying out decisions. This is the first time in this assembly that we are seeing leadership with transparency,” she said.
She urged all lawmakers to support Emberga in order to enable him perform beyond expectations.
“The new Speaker is a sincere man and very principled. With more support, he will do even better. I can assure the people of Benue that under his leadership, we will enact laws that will benefit youths and women in the state,” she added.
Ogenyi also spoke about her cordial relationship with fellow female politicians in the state, including her colleague in the Assembly, Hon. Becky Orpin, as well as female appointees of the governor such as the Secretary to the State Government and the Chairman of SUBEB.
According to her, she enjoy a “mother-and-daughter relationship,” with Hon. Orpin who often advices her to strengthen their roles in governance.
