The Benue NGO Network (BENGONET) has extended food support to families of malnourished children in one of the state’s internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.

Vice Chairman of BENGONET, Daniel Seer, said the organisation identified a gap in care for children battling malnutrition and decided to step in for 40 identified ones at IDPs camp in Makurdi International market.

“Considering the condition of the IDPs, we discovered that a number of malnourished children in the camp have not been well attended to. We sampled them and provided some materials to help with their condition,” he explained.

Seer disclosed that 40 families benefitted from the intervention, receiving eggs, rice, beans and condiments, with camp officials assisting in selecting the most vulnerable households.

He said the initiative is part of BENGONET’s commitment to supporting displaced persons with basic nutrition and complementing the efforts of other humanitarian actors working in Benue State.
