Amaechi Can’t Win Election Without Wike – Olanyinka

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has said the former Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, cannot win election without Wike.

Olayinka said this during a live programme on a national TV, while responding to vituperation by Amaechi who said he cannot join issues with children, referring to his boss – Wike – as ‘children’.

The media aid said that since the ‘children’ Wike parted ways with Amaechi, Amaechi has not won a single election.

“This same child defeated him in 2015, this person defeated him in 2019 and in 2023. Since Wike and Rotimi Amaechi parted ways, tell me one thing that Amaechi won politically. Give me one election that Rotimi Amaechi has won since Wike went his way and Amaechi went his way?”

Olayinka further revealed that in 2007 when Amaechi went on exile after the governorship election that was being contested in court, it was Wike that stayed back to face the heat on his behalf.

“When Supreme Court gave the judgment that Rotimi Amaechi should be the governor of Rivers State, Amaechi was in Ghana. Who went to Ghana to go and bring him?

“Who was the person that told Amaechi come home ooo, the atmosphere is now clear, nobody will attack you. You are now free. He could not face the fire here. He left Wike to face the fire.”

Reacting to Amaechi’s allegation that Wike wanted to be made commissioner of finance but he made him his chief-of-staff so that he could supervise him, Olayinka asked, “Doesn’t governor supervise commissioner for finance?”
