President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed that his administration is firmly rooted in the principle of inclusivity, assuring Nigerians that every section of the country will continue to benefit from his government’s renewed hope agenda.
The President, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, gave the assurance on Saturday at the 2025 Igede Agba Festival in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
He lauded the Igede Traditional Council for preserving the new yam festival, describing it as a beacon of unity, peace, and cultural identity among the Igede people.
Tinubu emphasised the critical role of traditional institutions in peacebuilding and national development.
Announcing new infrastructure projects, the SGF disclosed that the Federal Government has awarded a contract for the construction of the Oju–Ogoja Road, adding that Benue State has already benefited from several appointments and development projects under the current administration.
In his response, the Adiharu of Igede, CP Oga Ero (Rtd), thanked the President for honouring the invitation and for the road project, which he described as a long-awaited relief for his people.
The event also featured the conferment of a chieftaincy title on the President and goodwill messages from political leaders, including Hon. David Ogewu, who praised the administration for appointing Igede sons into key national positions and rolling out impactful social schemes.
The Igede Agba Festival which was first celebrated in 1957, remains a rallying point for cultural pride and community reflection among the Igede people.
