The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Benue State, has dismissed the Deputy Rector, Dr. Ngurumun Doris Iorchir, following a series of petitions she wrote against the Rector and members of the Council.

Iorchir, who also lectures in the Department of Accountancy, was accused of insubordination, arrogance toward the Rector, unauthorised disclosure of official information, and refusal to provide vital documents from her former employers required for her confirmation after two years of probation.

Her letter of dismissal dated August 18, 2025, and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Muhammed Ndaeji, stated that the decision took immediate effect.

Trouble began when Iorchir allegedly declined to submit documents requested by the institution to finalise her employment status, instead petitioning the Rector, Dr. Ashinya Tyover, with allegations of financial impropriety.

She followed up with a 94-page petition and two additional submissions in which she accused the Rector, Council members, and other personalities of sponsoring terrorism in the state.

The petitions were referred to the institution’s Management Disciplinary Committee, which found her guilty of misconduct.

The Council, at an emergency meeting, adopted the recommendations of the committee and approved her dismissal.

Sources at the polytechnic disclosed that one of the key issues that worsened her case was her decision to make the petitions public instead of exhausting internal mechanisms of resolving disputes.

The letter of dismissal also directed Dr. Iorchir to hand over all Polytechnic property, including her identity card, to the Chief Security Officer without delay.
