Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued two Nigerian Immigration Service officers from kidnappers in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The officers, identified as David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver, were abducted by armed men before troops launched a swift operation on Friday, September 26.

Acting Media Information Officer of OPWS, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, said credible intelligence guided the troops to Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village in Azendeshi Council Ward, where the rescue was carried out.

According to him, the kidnappers abandoned the captives and fled as troops closed in, enabling the safe recovery of the officers.

He added that the victims are receiving medical checks and debriefing in military custody.

The Force Commander, Major General Moses Gara, hailed the troops for their professionalism and courage, stressing that the success of the operation demonstrated OPWS’s commitment to rapid response and protection of lives.

He assured that security forces would continue to safeguard farming communities to boost food security in Benue and adjoining states.

Gara further urged residents to sustain cooperation with security agencies by sharing timely and credible intelligence to help stem criminal activities.
