Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central zone have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made at the weekend during the commissioning of the Benue State office of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu (ABT) Support Group 2027 in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Chief Convener and National Coordinator of the group, Dr. Mathias Byuan, said the move marked the beginning of wide consultations across the North Central states to secure massive support for the President’s second-term bid.
Byuan, who also serves as the Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), noted that Tinubu’s performance in less than two years had justified the need for continuity.
“We must begin early consultations across the North Central pending when INEC declares the campaign open. Our goal is to ensure President Tinubu gets 100 percent of the votes in this zone. What we’re doing here today is to demonstrate that there’s no challenge anywhere,” Byuan said.
He added that the support group would collaborate with the APC leader in the zone and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to mobilise voters through a door-to-door campaign across all 23 local government areas of Benue State.
“We have no reason to fail,” Byuan stated confidently.
Representing the SGF, Second Republic Senator Jacob Tiley Gyado said the North Central APC under Akume’s leadership was united and ready to deliver a landslide victory for Tinubu in 2027.
“Tinubu has already won his re-election,” Gyado declared.
He added, “We have one leader in the North Central – George Akume – and once you’re not following him, you are on your own.”
