The Igede people of Benue State have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Their declaration came during the grand finale of the 2025 Igede-Agba festival, where the lawmaker representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. David Ogewu, reeled out his achievements and mobilised support for the president.
Ogewu, who organised week-long activities to mark the celebration, including a security summit, medical outreach, empowerment programmes, and skill acquisition training, told his constituents that Tinubu had demonstrated love for the Igede nation through appointments and ongoing road projects in the area.
Responding to Ogewu’s question on how they would show gratitude to the president, the cheering crowd chorused their endorsement of Tinubu for 2027.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who represented the president, and traditional leaders who conferred a chieftaincy title on Ogewu for his contributions to Igede land.
The lawmaker also launched an empowerment programme, distributing tricycles, motorcycles, cash grants, and hospital equipment to boost livelihoods and healthcare delivery across Oju and Obi LGAs.
The Igede people lauded Ogewu’s leadership, describing his efforts in infrastructural and human capital development as unprecedented.
