As the race for 2026 FCT Council Polls gathers momentum, a cross section of electorates in Nyanya Ward, under Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), have said, the Councilor representing the Ward, who also the Speaker of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC); Rt. Hon. Matthew Yare Danjuma, has performed very well thus, they are going to vote for him massively to return and continue his good works.

Speaking with Nigeria Project, the voters said, from 1999 till date, no Councilor from Nyanya Ward has achieved one third of what Dr. Matthew Danjuma has done. According to them, all those vying for the position, Hon. Danjuma remains the best man for the job, having proven his worth.

Speaking with our reporter, John Onah said, in Nyanya Ward as at today, he has not seen any contestant that can defeat Hon. Matthew Danjuma. According to him, two things have made Hon. Danjuma to be loved by Nyanya Ward electorates – one, is his humility; and the second one is his performance.

“Two things that have made the coming election easy for Hon. Danjuma is his humility and performance. Majority of his peers, anytime they get to power, they shut the door against the electorates, you wouldn’t have access to them anymore, but Hon. Danjuma is not like that. His door is always open for people irrespective of their tribe, religion and race; he treats everybody equally, he doesn’t say this person is not from my side, tribe or religion.

“Also, he is doing very well, he has brought dividends of democracy to us here. See the Area C, Nyanya – Agwandadi – Living Faith Church Road rehabilitation. Go to other areas, such as Nyanya Federal Housing, and so on, you will see his work. He has also carried out different empowerment projects that have direct Impact on the people,” Onah said.

Also speaking to our reporter, a pastor who doesn’t want to be named said, “We have been clamouring for the rehabilitation of this Area C Nyanya-Living Faith Church Road for sometimes, we thank God that, at last, God has used the young man – the Councilor representing Nyanya ward (Hon. Matthew), to fix it. This, to me, is huge and worth celebrating.”

When our reporter asked him if he will vote for him, the clergyman said, “if not him, who else?”

On his part, Ismail Muyideen said, anybody that is contesting against Hon. Danjuma is wasting his/her time and resources, according to him, the Nyanya Ward councilor has performed very well, and has won the hearts of the electorates.

He said, “My oga, Matthew don do too much work. Nobody fit defeat am. For me and people around me, even majority of Nyanya people go vote for am; he go win.”

Hajiya Bilikatu, a trader said, Hon. Danjuma has done so much for her and entire women in Nyanya Ward, and will pay him back by voting for him massively to win the coming poll. She said, she was struggling with her business due to lack of funds, but through Hon. Matthew’s empowerment, she was able to revive her business.

“I could remember when I was struggling with my business for lack of funds, but God used Hon. Danjuma to change the narrative. I know many women that were struggling like me, but today, through the Councilor’s benevolent, our businesses have tremendously improved. For me and many women in Nyanya Ward, we don’t know any contestant apart from him. Therefore, he will get massive votes from us. He has performed very well, he should return,” she said.

According to Uche Okafor, Nyanya based trader, he said as far as he is concerned, he doesn’t know if other people are contesting apart from Hon. Matthew.

He said, “As far as I’m concerned, I don’t know if we have other contestants apart from Hon. Matthew Danjuma. Contesting for what? Please, let’s be realistic, with what he has done in Nyanya Ward, we will all vote for him; see the roads rehabilitation, if not him, who do you expect us to vote for? He asked rhetorically.

In a recent interview we had via phone with the Speaker of AMAC (Dr. Matthew Danjuma), he told Nigeria Project that he has performed very well and the electorates are behind him. He advised his competitors to get their parties’ ticket first before boasting of dislodging him at the poll.
