The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has received 16 truckloads of equipment for the soon-to-be-launched Food Basket Brewery, located at Akile along the Makurdi–Gboko Road.
Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, alongside top management staff, received the machinery at the company’s corporate headquarters before proceeding to the brewery site.
Dr. Asemakaha disclosed that the 16 containers represent the first batch of 50 truckloads of equipment expected from the People’s Republic of China.
He said the delivery was one of the tangible outcomes of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s recent visit to China aimed at attracting industrial investment to Benue.
He revealed that Chinese expatriates are already en route to Nigeria to commence installation of the machinery, with production scheduled to begin by the end of October 2025.
According to the GMD, the brewery will generate 200 direct jobs in the first phase, another 200 in the second phase, and over 1,000 indirect job opportunities.
He noted that with a daily production capacity of 10,000 crates, the factory is expected to tap into Benue’s estimated N1 billion monthly beer consumption market.
Dr. Asemakaha commended Governor Alia for his unwavering support and reiterated BIPC’s commitment to the administration’s industrialization drive.
Also speaking, BIPC Company Secretary, Josephat Ioryoosu, Esq., praised the governor, the GMD, and the management team for their dedication, describing the brewery as a strategic initiative to stabilise Benue’s economy and create employment for its youth.
Theresa Abeda, Head of Business Development and Strategy, also applauded Governor Alia’s vision for empowering BIPC to spearhead his industrial revolution as she affirmed the company’s readiness to help reposition Benue’s economy through impactful investments.
