As the push for who becomes the running mate to AMAC Chairman, honorable Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the FCT Council polls continues; a cross section of voters and party faithful members from Nyanya Ward, who spoke to our reporters over the weekend, said they are behind and in support of Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Medugu, for the vice chairmanship position.

According to them, Hon. Medugu is more qualified than all those vying for the number two position of the council, because apart from being a grassroots politician as a former councillor, three things stand him out as the most qualified person at the moment; which are: he is from Zone ‘A’ of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), which comprises Nyanya, Karu, Oronzo and Karshi; compare to those who are vying for the seat that come from the same zone of AMAC chairman.

Also, they added that the outgoing vice chairman hails from North West therefore, they are automatically out of the equation.

Apart from that, they counter that it will be unfair if the North East which has chunk of votes in AMAC, is denied the position of the vice chairman this time around, as other major regions in AMAC have taken their shots.

The final point they raised that make the Adamawa state-born politician to be more qualified than  all his competitors is his grassroots connection and his undying loyalty to APC over the years. They said, why many had dumped the party (APC), especially when it was in crisis and eventually out of power in AMAC, Hon. Medugu remained in the party and continued to build and have his fate in the party.

The Nyanya ward electorates, therefore, said for the sake of future, those who are loyal and faithful to the party, like Hon. Medugu, should be well compensated at a right time such as this. They urged the AMAC chairman, Honorable Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, who is the also the APC candidate to avoid any pressure and picks honourable Medugu, as his running mate.

“It will be a great injustice to humanity if APC leadership denies Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Medugu the position of the running mate to AMAC chairman. He has been consistent in the party (APC); while others were leaving the party, he remained there and continued to put his fate in the party.

“Now, that the time for him to be rewarded accordingly has come, it would be unfair if he is denied the position. There must be party loyalty and faithfulness. Those who are faithful and loyal to the party especially in trying times, like Hon. Medugu, should be rewarded.

“I call on our party AMAC leaders to do the needful. They should emulate our president, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who believes so much in rewarding loyal members.

“For the sake of justice and fairness, Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Medugu, should be considered for the position of the vice chairman,” a top APC excos member in the ward (Nyanya), who doesn’t want to be named, said.

Hon. Medugu was recently endorsed by North East Geopolitical Indigenes Forum, Abuja; as their candidate for the position of the vice chairmanship candidate for AMAC.

Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Medugu, hails from Adamawa State and has lived in Abuja since 1994 where he won an election in 2007 as a councillor representing Nyanya Ward. He is a grassroots politician and has large followership not only in AMAC but across the entire FCT. He was a founding member of APC and has remained in the party till date.
